David Fuqua Obituary

David W. Fuqua, 85, of Champaign, IL., formerly of Ivesdale, IL., passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 7:45 P.M., at Haven of Bement, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Hinds Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 348 N. Piatt St., Bement. The Pastor Justin Nuefeld will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M., until time of services on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will military honors by the Albert Parker American Legion Post #620, will be in the Bement Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Bement Food Pantry or donors choice.

Dave was born on February 12, 1940 in Bement, IL., a son of Charles Foran and Erma Perkins Fuqua. He married Carole Hulsizer in July of 1961, as well as Karen Myles Danenenhower in August of 1976. Surviving children are; David (Michelle) Fuqua of Zionsville, IN., Dennis (Sherry) Fuqua of Bement, Donald (Suzanne Coomes) Fuqua of Felton, PA., Step-daughters; Teresa (Walt) Lehigh of Mt. Zion, IL., Kimberly (Rick) Wallace of Champaign, and Linda (Jeffrey) Butler of Leitchfield, KY. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren; David Fuqua III, Lauren Fuqua, Thomas Fuqua and Emma Fuqua, as well as 12 step-grandchildren; Chad Brackett, Darrin Brackett, Jennifer Butler, Kara Wallace, Elysse Wallace, Nathan Tritchler, Danielle Phelps, Anthony Tritchler, Stacey Carrier, Shane Wilson, Brandon Wilson and Brittany Carlson, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Carole and Karen, brothers; John and James Fuqua and long time friend; Sandra Rosenbeck.

Dave graduated from Bement High School in 1968. He worked at Kraft Foods in Champaign for 35 years in the maintenance dept. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a mechanic and carpenter who could fix or build anything, he enjoyed fishing, and was a member of the Country Jacks band and played country music at several venues around the area. Dave was a member of the Illini Road Runners motorcycle club and enjoyed taking road trips with the group. He attended the Hope a Community Church of the Nazarene in Urbana and played guitar with the praise team for several years.
