Frank Swaim, 90, of Toledo, IA.,formerly of Bement, IL., passed away at 9:10 A.M., on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Birkwood Village of Toledo, IA.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M., on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Hinds Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 348 N. Piatt St. Bement. The Rev. Steve Ingram will officiate. Visitation will be held from 12:30 P.M. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to First Christian Church of Bement.
Frank was born on July 27, 1934 in Illiopolis, IL., a son of George and Mary Waugh Swaim. He married Violet L. VanLandingham on August 8, 1954 in Bement, IL. and she passed away on November 7, 2016. Surviving children include; Cheryl (Dennis) Pansegerau of Toledo, IA., Michael (Karlene) Swaim of Bement, IL., and Kevin (MaryAnn) Swaim of Heyworth, IL. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a sister; Mary Manalisay. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son; Steven Swaim, grandsons; Joshua and Andrew Swaim, 2 great-grandchildren; Shane and Zion, brothers; George Swaim and Charles Lincoln Swaim and nephew; Donald Swaim.
Frank was a lifelong farmer. He worked for Caterpillar for 37 years. He was one of the honor guards who protected Marilyn Monroe when she came to Bement. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and attending bluegrass festivals, where he would play his guitar and jam with his many friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. The family would like to thank the staff of Birkwood Village for their outstanding care.
