Howard Lust, 67, of Bement, IL., passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the home where he lived his entire life.
Funeral services to celebrate Howard's life will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Bement United Methodist Church, 249 N. Piatt St., Bement. The Pastor Naomi Roberts will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M., until time of services on Saturday at the church. Private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Bement Food Bank, Bement United Methodist Church or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's.
He was born on November 14, 1957, in Tuscola, IL., the son of Herbert and Francis Ann Halterman Lust, Sr. On December 28, 1985, he married Kay Bertsch in Bement, IL. and together they built a warm and loving life.
Howard is survived by his devoted wife, Kay Lust of Bement, and their loved children; Nicholas (Moira) Lust of Woolridge, IL., and Shelby (Konnor) Wright of Arthur, IL. He was proud and a playful Papa to four grandchildren who brought him endless joy; Quinlin, Rowan, Isla and Warner, He is also survived by his sisters; Kathryn Lust of Ukiah, CA., and Donna (John) Parks of Urbana, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Herbert Lust, Jr. and sister; Cindy Lust.
Howard was a lifelong sports enthusiast, especially when it came to softball. His passion for the game was matched only by his deep love for family, friends, and rock 'n' roll. Known for his big heart and ability to connect with anyone. Howard never met a stranger. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Bement and dedicated more than 35 years of service to the University of Illinois Facilities & Services team.
