Jane Bair

Elenor Jane Bair, 85, of Williamsville, IL, passed away on March 1, 2026 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Jane was born on August 15, 1940, in Elkhart, Illinois to Frank and Lena Plummer. The 10th of 10 children, those who knew Jane remember her for her smile, sense of humor, generosity and love of her children.

After graduating from Elkhart High School, Jane spent most of her career working for the Child Support Division of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, where she had many friends among her colleagues. Outside of work, Jane enjoyed reading who-done-its, traveling with extended family, attending Broadway shows, finding treasures at thrift stores, and decorating her century-old Victorian home.

Jane is survived by her son, Blake (Kathy) Garrison of Williamsville, daughter Melany (David Adam) Nitzsche of St. Louis, sister Judy Vancil of Westerville, Ohio, and her beloved Goldendoodle, Petunia. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lena Plummer, husband Steve Bair, and eight siblings, including her identical twin sister, Jean Hedden.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 12:00 P.M., on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Staab Funeral Home, 2626 East Andrew Road, Sherman, IL. 62684. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of services. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery, Williamsville, IL. Following the committal service, there will be a luncheon at the Williamsville Community Center, 141 W. Main St., Williamsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to either the Williamsville Library or the Williamsville Garden Club, either of which can be sent c/o the Williamsville Community Center, 141 W. Main St., Williamsville, IL 62693.
