Janet M. Cahill Olson, of Mount Pleasant, Mich., passed away on September, 9, 2025, at her brother's home in Bement, IL.
The emotional pain we feel from the sudden loss of Janet—our daughter/sister/aunt/friend—at the age of 64 hits hard, but it also draws us closer to one another. Janet was someone who always put everyone else before herself. She befriended the friendless, adopted homeless animals, and volunteered at homeless shelters and food pantries. Appropriately, donations in her memory may be made to any of the following organizations: Albert Parker American Legion Post #620 of Bement; Willow Tree Missions; Champaign County Humane Society.
Janet was the first child of William D. and Lois M. (Cantrell) Cahill, born of February 3, 1961 in Decatur, IL. She graduated from Bement High School and was married to Dennis Olson. After her divorce and retirement, she moved to Michigan to live with her sister Julia and was able to spend winters in South Carolina.
Janet is survived by her mother, Lois Cahill, brother John (Stephanie) Cahill, sister Julia Becker (Rob Burgan), nephews Matt (Priscilla Perry) Cahill and Greg (Aeriel) Cahill, Brendin Becker, niece Brianna Becker ( Harrison Huijskens), four great nieces, two great nephews, Aunt Mary Ann Weakley, and her handsome tuxedo kitty, Mr. Moseley.
She was predeceased by her father, William (Bill) Cahill and grandparents Grace & Forest Cantrell and Lena & Joseph V. Cahill.
She will be cremated and wished to have no services, but there will be a big party for her at a future date at the Lucky Monkey Pub & Grill in Bement, IL.
