Larry Bartram Obituary

Larry R. Bartram, 91, of Bement, IL., passed away at 4:49 P.M., on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Goldwater Care Center, Clinton, IL..

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 11:00 A.M., at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Monticello, IL. Fr. Sixmund Henry will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until time of services on Tuesday at the church. Burial with Military rites for the Army veteran will be given by the Albert Parker American Legion Post #620, in the Bement Township Cemetery, Bement. IL. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion Post #620, Bement or the Piatt County Animal Shelter, Monticello.

Larry was born on December 11, 1934, in Decatur, the son of Jack and Kathyrn Sites Bartram. He married Mary Loretta Bartram on March 2, 1957, in Monticello, and she survives of Bement. Surviving are two daughters; Teresa (Fred) Stoerger of Atwood, and Debra (Jim) Weber of Monticello. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Gina and Kendra, and five great-grandchildren., as well as his brother; John Gregory and sisters; Sondra Jones and Sharon Daily. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother; Terry Gregory.

Larry was a lifelong resident of Piatt County. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army. He was a farmer for 60 years, served as a Piatt County Deputy for several years and was a Pilot flying private and twin engine planes for Decatur Aviation, and was on the Bement School Board. He belonged to the Decatur Aero Club for many years and a member of the American Legion Post for years. Larry will miss visiting his coffee group and many friends as well as driving around the county as he did daily; most that knew him could set their watch by him because he was so consistent with his daily routine.
