Stephen Bair Obituary

Stephen L. Bair 78, of Williamsville, IL., passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, in Springfield, IL.

Graveside services with full military honors for the Air Force veteran will be held at 11:30 A.M., on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Walnut Hill cemetery, Williamsville, IL. Following the graveside service, there will be a celebration of life reception at the Williamsville Community Center, 141 W. Main St., Williamsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either the Williamsville Garden Club or the Williamsville Public Library, and mailed to the Community Center address above. Donation envelopes will also be provided at the reception.

Steve was born on June 30, 1944 in Long Beach, CA., a son of Loyd W. and Blossom E. Wiegand Bair. He married Elenor Jane Garrison on November 14, 1981 in Springfield, IL., and she survives. Also surviving is a step-son, Blake (Kathy Szabo) Garrison of Williamsville, step-daughter, Melany (David Adam) Nitzsche of St. Louis, MO; twin-sister, Sharon Bair of Springfield, IL.,; sister, Autumn Lurvey of Nixa, MO.; and brother; Jim Ward of Springfield, IL.; and of course, we can't forget his loving companion dog, Petunia. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; Laverne and Lynn Bair, brother, Sid Bair; sister, Florence “Flossie” Craner; and son-in-law, Matthew Nitzsche.

Steve was an Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He was also a highly decorated trapshooter who was invited to compete at the Grand American tournament. Steve also enjoyed golf and was an avid, lifelong fisherman.
