Theresa Whitely Obituary

With great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, the Whitely family announce the passing of our kind, brave, caring and unimaginably generous wife, mother grandmother, sister and friend, Thersa Whitely was born in the town of Monticello on September 3, 1960. Theresa dedicated her early life to healthcare facilities in the area, as she always wanted to help anyone she could. In 1981, Theresa met Gary Whitely in Bement. Theresa and Gary went on to have four children, Joshua, Christopher, Christian and Justin. This is where Theresa transitioned from healthcare into raising her family full time.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother who dedicated her time and love to everyone. Later in life she looked forward to visits from her grandkids and instilled in them love for simplicity, appreciating the little things, and most importantly family. She had an amazing heart and always shared wisdom. Even in her last few days, she held on to family more than anything. She believed that was our one true tie to this planet, not the things we own, the cars we drive, but the people we love and the people we inevitably leave behind.

Theresa was preceded in death by her sister, Lorie James of Monticello, and brother, Larry Senter of Seymour. Theresa leaves behind her mother, Peggy Thompson, her nine adoring grandchildren, Haley Whitely, Holly Whitely, Jacob Whitely, Candice Whitely, Skye Reynolds, Charlotte Reynolds, Noah Garrison, Jordan Garrison, Parker Garrison. Three children, Christopher Whitely, Christian Whitely, and Justin Reynolds, two children-in-law, Nola Whitely, Danielle Reynolds. Countless friends, colleagues and acquaintances and the most life changing partner, caretaker, confidant, father and friend we could have asked for her to have, her husband, Gary.

In light of public health concerns, a Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the spring of 2023.
